Dream Worlds

Every plushie has its own dream: a whole dimension you reach by falling asleep in that plushie's bed. Somewhere far from where you arrive sits the real plush. Pick it up, and the dream turns on you — then make it back to a bed.

Dream Beds

Strange Note: Clock, target the exit

Dream Beds can't be crafted. They generate in small setups out in the overworld, each with a note telling you how to find your way back out.

BedDreamWhere to look
Mochi's BedMochi's RoomFlower, birch and oak forests
Chilled Cow's BedSynthetic LandPlains and meadows
Dango's BedDango's PitUnderground, on cave floors
Froggy's BedFroggy's KingdomSwamps and mangrove swamps

Mine a bed with an axe to take it home and place it wherever you like.

Sleeping in and waking up

  • Falling asleep: a Dream Bed only works at night in the overworld. It also sets your respawn point.
  • First visit: you wake up in the dream's arrival bed. Later visits: in the last bed you left by.
  • Waking up: sleep in a bed of the same colour inside the dream, any time of day. Vanilla beds don't work in there.
  • Getting caught by a dream's monster sends you home too — "You wake up. The pit spat you back out." — but it costs you the plush.
Warning

No vanilla mob ever spawns in a dream. If something is moving in there, it belongs to the dream.

What's waiting inside

  • A Dream Compass by the arrival bed, the first time anyone comes. In a dream it points to your way out; in the overworld it's a clock.
  • Strange Notes by the arrival bed and next to the plush. Read them: they're the only instructions you get.
  • Loot scattered around: the missing Dream Diary pages of that plushie, its music disc, and now and then the mysterious Birdy note.

The plush

Each dream hides its plushie as a seated plush, far from the arrival. Picking it up starts that dream's event:

DreamWhat happens
Mochi's RoomThe room rots and drops you into the Nightmare below
Synthetic LandThe lights go out and the Nightmare Chilled Cow comes
Dango's PitThe ground shakes and the Nightmare Dango comes
Froggy's KingdomNight falls for good and Froggy turns into a nightmare

Get caught and the plush is destroyed. Reach a bed with it and it's yours for good — a plush pet that keeps its plushie's overworld encounters away.

Tip

Carry the plush as an item, not as a pet following you — a pet trotting behind you may not follow you out of the dream.

Creepy things that happen

  • Light blinks — nearby lamps flicker for a few seconds.
  • Neon hum — lit ceiling lights buzz.
  • Heartbeat — only in Dango's Pit: a heartbeat that speeds up, with camera shakes and blackouts.
  • Dream Door scares — opening a Dream Door, even at home, can make a noise behind you… or show you Mochi's head right behind it.
